Seventh Day Slumber to Perform in Winter Jam 2024

Updated: Dec 28, 2023

Christian rock band Seventh Day Slumber is performing as a part of Winter Jam's 2024 lineup.

Winter Jam is a Christian concert tour that travels the U.S. (usually the east coast and midwest) every winter. Every year, the tour announces a new lineup of ten different artists from a variety of Christian music genres, such as CCM, rap, and, of course, rock. (No metal yet, but hopefully one day)

Winter Jam is the largest annual Christian music tour in the U.S., and with the variety of artists, it’s a good way to introduce people to heavier Christian music. Growing up, going to Winter Jam was a tradition for my church youth group and was how I got introduced to Skillet and saw some of my favorite Christian rock bands, like Red, in concert.

Photo I took of Red using performing "Breathe Into Me" at Winter Jam 2020.

Winter Jam usually has one Christian rock artist each year. In the past, they’ve included bands such as Skillet, Red, Pillar, Relient K, Fireflight, Thousand Foot Krutch, and Disciple.

2024’s lineup announcement in October revealed Seventh Day Slumber’s Winter Jam debut.

Seventh Day Slumber is a Christian rock band that has been around for over 20 years and has released 14 studio albums. The band’s founder, guitarist and lead vocalist Joseph Rojas, became a Christian after struggling with drug addiction and a failed suicide attempt. Rojas said, “God intervened in my life during a critical moment, and I dedicated my life to Him. … It's super important for us to let our fans know that God loves us all unconditionally, no matter the mistakes we’ve made.”

Seventh Day Slumber’s music touches on topics such as pain, depression, and grief, along with hope in God and His love for us. The band also has multiple worship albums that are their versions of popular contemporary worship songs, such as their version of "Waymaker."

Most bands at Winter Jam, except for the headliner, get only 15 minutes to perform. So, Seventh Day Slumber will have to choose only a few songs to play from their many albums.

They recently posted on their social media asking their fans for songs they would like to hear at Winter Jam. And here were some of the top responses on Instagram:

Lion And The Lamb

This song is from one of the band’s worship albums and puts their own spin on Big Daddy Weave’s “Lion and the Lamb.”

Awake

Awake is one of the band’s older songs. It’s a song that the band says is “about overcoming numbness and pain in life through a new perspective with God.”

Oceans From The Rain

“Oceans From The Rain” is a Seventh Day Slumber classic about how God’s love covers us and how He provides for us.

Death by Admiration

This song, featuring The Word Alive, is about “the struggles of sharing pain and the fear of being exposed, leading to depression and suicide. A poignant reminder that no one is immune to life's challenges, despite success and status. No one should suffer in a glass trophy case.”

A Bullet Meant for Me

This single from the band’s upcoming album and talks about being afraid of change.

And I’m hoping they will play “From the Inside Out,” which is the first song of theirs that I heard and listened to a lot when growing up.

Playing at Winter Jam will hopefully give Seventh Day Slumber the chance to grow their fan base and help open people’s minds (and ears) to Christian hard rock.
